EPiServer Ascend 2019 took place in Miami city in an exclusive sector that helped to enhance this important event. More than 700 people gathered to participate in different educational sessions, free certification, and labs. There were sessions for developers where they showed EPiServer features that are very rarely used, such as the creation of add-ons and inclusion of external content. The event was dedicated to the partners, recognizing them as the force that impulses EPiServer to continue growing. Giving them deserved recognition for helping the growth of the community. For example, Verndale received the Market Place Solution Partner of the Year award for its contribution to seven applications in the marketplace.

Regarding the developer sessions, the “An Approach to the Replication of External Content in Episerver” session was a very interesting tech-talk since assistants learned how to create external content and add it onto a custom Asset Pane quickly. This enables you to import any kind of data from different sources and treat them as an Episerver item, taking advantage of all infrastructure that is ready to be used such as cache. In addition, the session on “How to Publish an Application in the Episerver Market” contributed a step-by-step guide to make life easier when you are creating modules. This included how to create the Nuget package, and how to test it using the Alloy sample project.

For me as a tech assistant, it was a great opportunity to get to know and meet new people and industry leaders. Engineers had the opportunity to show their work and highlight their strengths. My main takeaway is that EPiServer is growing and investing in partner success.

The event was a complete success that will keep me, as an engineer, motivated to continue working and contributing to the EPiServer community, looking forward to the next Epi Ascend.
